In the first two weeks of Spanish class, we have done many things and learned the introductions of speaking Spanish.
- We started off with the class expectations and also discussed reasons for learning Spanish.
- We learned about the class website as well as the textbook that we will be using called "¡Exprésate!"
- We discovered that there are both formal and informal ways of greeting or addressing someone in Spanish.
- We learned how to introduce people in Spanish, how to ask someone's name and respond with your own, how to ask how someone is doing and respond, and how to ask where someone is from and respond.
- We watched a short movie on greetings, introductions, and goodbyes that included how to greet and leave someone, both linguistically and culturally, in Spanish.
- We also learned some polite phrases such as por favor, gracias, de nada, lo siento, and no hay problema.
- We had a class discussion on national and cultural identities, defining terms like "Hispanic", "Latino", and "Spanish".
- We did some research on the regions of Spain.
- We had Spaniards come visit us for a day!
- We talked about some strategies to studying and learning Spanish, and some different ways to study vocabulary words.
- We have done some listening, reading, writing, and speaking activities in Spanish with the vocabulary we have been working on.
- We have been conversing with different "clock" partners everyday - completely in Spanish!
