Exam 1 Study Guide
The exam on Chapters 1 and 2 will be on Wednesday and Thursday, January 16 and 17.

Twelve ways I can study
1.     Memorize vocabulary using note card flashcards/word lists/quizlet
2.     Review past quizzes and tests – especially parts that were incorrectly answered
3.     Play the review games and do the practice activities online on the class blog
4.     Read through Chapters 1 and 2 and do chapter activities and review activities (also online)
5.     Go through past worksheet activities
6.     Make and study a subject pronoun chart
7.     Make and study a “ser” verb chart
8.     Make and study a “gustar” verb chart
9.     Go online to your personal book site and…
        a.     Click through each page of Chapters 1 and 2 and do the activity quizzes you come across in the book pages
        b.     Click the tab “Self Test” on the top and take the Chapter 1 and 2 tests and cumulative self-tests
        c.      Watch videos under the “Video” tab on top
10. Have a family member or friend quiz you
11. Go through the list of tasks below to make sure you can do each one
12. Go through each of the topics below, check the ones you know well, and keep studying the ones you need to until you can check off each one

Studying for the Chapter 1, Grammar 2 Quiz

The Chapter 1, Grammar 2 quiz is on Friday, October 19.

Here is what you should know:
1) The different conjugations of the verb ser - which conjugation goes with which subject.
                  
                    yo: soy                                nostotros/as: somos
                    tú: eres                                vosotros/as: sois
                    usted/él/ella: es                   ustedes/ellos/ellas: son

2) Re-writing sentences to make them negative, or say the opposite.
        * The word "no" always goes right BEFORE the verb.

3) Know which letters of which words need accents, and which ones need tildes. 
        * Get the accent and tilde list again in Class Documents.

4) Add periods, question marks, or exclamation points to Spanish sentences.
                            ¿   ?                        ¡     !
        * See how to make these and other Spanish symbols on your own computer!

Study ideas:
1) Make flashcards (materials are available in class).
2) Fill in a blank chart multiple times of the conjugations of the verb "ser".
3) Learn the words that have accents and tildes, and which letters the accents and tildes are on.
4) Practice writing questions and exciting statements in Spanish that use the upside-down punctuation at the beginning.
5) Practice adding "no" to the correct place in sentences to make the meaning negative.
6) Practice Grammar 2 punctuation and accents online.
7) Watch a helpful youtube video about "ser" to get it all figured out.

Here's what you need to know:
1) I can say and write the numbers 0-31 in Spanish.
2) I can say my phone number in Spanish.
3) I can tell the days of the week in Spanish.
4) I can tell the months of the year in Spanish.
5) I can say the day and date in Spanish.
6) I can tell my birthday in Spanish.
7) I can say the alphabet in Spanish.
8) I can understand the written letter sounds in Spanish and what letters they represent.
9) I can spell in Spanish.
10) I can give my email address in Spanish.
11) I can tell time in Spanish.
12) I can ask and answer questions appropriately about myself and others.

Here are a few study ideas:
1) Look at the youtube videos and powerpoints in Class Documents.
2) Make flashcards with the vocabulary for numbers, days, months, sounds, and time.
3) Make flashcards with the questions we are learning on one side and the answers on the other.
4) Use vocabulary charts to memorize the words that are tricky for you.

Personal Pronouns - I need help!!

Personal pronouns, or subject pronouns, can be a bit tricky. 
Here are a few ways to learn these pronouns for good:

1) Come to Sra. Goorhouse's room on Tuesday, October 2 during lunch for Pronoun help.
2) Watch this video/powerpoint describing the pronouns.
3) Quiz yourself on the pronouns with these questions online.
4) Print out another pronoun chart to fill in and study or fill in from memory.
5) Flashcards, matching, memory, and a wordsearch
6) More pronoun matching lists
7) A quiz to practice and test your knowledge
8) A second quiz to help you study
9) ASK Señora Goorhouse if you still need more help.

1) Know how to identify the subject of a sentence. (p. 12 in textbook)
2) Know how to identify the verb of a sentence. (p. 12)
3) Know what the personal pronouns are in Spanish. (p. 14)
4) Look over the sheets you got in class - worksheet, charts, etc.  Click here if you need another copy of something.
